- You produce ~400 units, but use some during the day
- Say you consume 150 units from solar directly during daylight
- The remaining 250 units produced go back to the grid as credit
- At night you draw, say, 200 units from the grid
- KSEB bill = 200 (drawn at night) minus 250 (exported) = net credit → you pay just the fixed charges (and any crossover), often a bill of ₹100–₹300 instead of ₹2,000+

Bill = (units drawn from grid) − (units exported to grid), at the applicable tariff
